The oracle of Ifa was at the beginning, before time existed. In the ancient days, one would place their hand on the earth (soil) and an odu Ifa (Revelation/Message) would be revealed in order to give direction to the person’s ailments or inquiry. Much later, the ikin Ifa which is a sacred seed, was introduced, and then once again another instrument known as the opele Ifa, was also added to access Ifa’s messages.

We seek advice from Ifa once we have done much deliberation on our own and simply can’t find a solution. One may be experiencing trouble finding a compatible mate, barrenness or infant death, health issues, random obstacles that seem to constantly plague them with no hope in sight and even being bothered in their sleep. These are merely a FEW instances that we would seek the guidance of Ifa to aid us. Through the oracle, Olodumare (God), our Ori (higher-self), our Egungun (ancestors), Egbe (heavenly mates), and Orisa (deified beings) are able to gather, deliberate and provide the best antidote or advice to support us on our earthly journey. Ifa also provides a blueprint to those who inquire as to why we chose to come from heaven to have this journey and how to do so living as the best version of yourself. This can include what foods, colors and localities and often what certain types of people are to be avoided for our well-being.
